Running through June 27 at Beijing’s Today Art Museum, this week the first-ever China exhibition by top fashion photographer Mario Testino launched in the Chinese capital.
Supported by longtime Testino collaborator Burberry and Mercedes-Benz, the “Private View” exhibition includes nearly 100 of Testino’s most well-known photos, and kicked off this week with an opening attended by Testino, Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey and the ubiquitous editor-in-chief of Vogue China, Angelica Cheung. As Testino said this week of his first show in the Middle Kingdom, “I wanted to show my work in China, somewhere I have never exhibited before.”
“Also, Beijing is an incredible place, full of surprises. You get a real sense of discovery there.” Added Testino.
Best enjoyed by fans of Burberry — shots featuring the brand proliferate at the exhibition, unsurprisingly, considering it’s a sponsor — the exhibition is nonetheless worth a look for anybody with an interest in fashion photography.

According to market sources, the fast-fashion behemoth has tapped Maison Martin Margiela to produce a one-off collection. An announcement could come as early as this week. Reached on Monday, a spokeswoman for H&M in Stockholm said, “We never comment on rumors.”
Considered the breakaway seventh member of the famed Antwerp Six that put Belgium on the international fashion map, Margiela introduced cleft-toed boots, deconstructed fashions and all-white stores to the fashion lexicon.
Today, Maison Martin Margiela produces various clothing and accessories collections for women and men, and has expanded into jewelry, fragrances and home decoration. It is slated to present its latest men’s wear and couture collections in Paris in the coming weeks.
In past years, H&M has done holiday tie-ups with the likes of Lanvin, Comme des Garçons, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo and Karl Lagerfeld.
The retailer has also ramped up the frequency of such special collections, with Italian fashion editor and blogger Anna Dello Russo next up to try her hand at an H&M range.
