Cyber Monday 2012 became the largest online shopping day concluding with sales of almost $1.5 billion. Many researchers believe the numbers are increased because of many American stores promoting better sales and extending them through the weekend. Another factor that created the 30.3% increase from last year was the use of mobile devices during cyber Monday. Reports show that sales from mobile devices were up 96% percent from the year before. Many online retailers were so successful with their cyber Monday sales that they extended them into Tuesday.
The numbers for Monday were much higher than the year before but not surprising after a huge weekend following Black Friday where consumers spent $59.1 billion throughout Friday to Sunday. Customers were obviously on the prowl for great sales and deals and from the final number of sales, they seemed to receive the deals they were looking for.
