Versace’s relaunched Versus line capsule collection by J.W. Anderson debuted in New York on Wednesday, with an extravaganza event at the city’s Lexington Avenue Armory, which featured performances by Maxwell, Grimes, and the rapper Angel Haze. As Versace herself explains, “The launch of Versus Versace will be an incredible event, bringing together everything that I love: fashion, music, DJs, young people, and their amazing energy. This mix of music and fashion captures the essence of Versus Versace, a label for a new global tribe.”

Karlie Kloss has designed a capsule collection for denim label Frame, launching in June. She created two styles of jeans meant for long-legged ladies like herself. “I’m freakishly tall, so finding pants that fit is something I’ve struggled with my whole life,”said Kloss. “My secret to pulling off too-short jeans has always been to pair them with boots and I really rocked the flood-pant trend for as long as I could! It wasn’t until I started modelling at fifteen that I even realized what well-fitting clothes felt like. Frame’s creative directors, Jens Grede and Erik Torstensson, hope that the jeans will cater to a missing gap in the market.

Seven designers will be in the running for the ANDAM Fashion Award this year, for a total prize fund of 250,000 euros. Composed of 23 industry professionals and sponsors, the jury has selected the following group of finalists: Alexandre Mattiussi for his contemporary menswear label named Ami; Olympia Le Tan and Iris Van Herpen who have both recently branched out into ready-to-wear from accessories and couture respectively; Maison Rabih Kayrouz for his ready-to-wear line launched in 2012, Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço who has been presenting his collection in Paris since 2010, Chinese designer Masha Ma who produces her luxury collection between China and Europe and has recently started to do contemporary and finally, Australian Yang Li who has three collections under his belt and made his Paris debut last season.

This year, the jury is run by Renzo Rosso and the winners will be nominated the July4 in Paris.

Richardson stars in Valentino‘s fall accessories campaign. The ads, shot in Rome at Studio Backspace, show fashion photographer Terry Richardson’s  tattooed forearms, featured holding red Rockstud accessories against his signature white background. It’s quite a change for Valentino known for its aspirational glamour.

The world’s largest Saint Laurent’s boutique merchandise by Hedi Slimane has landed on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. We recognize the Hedi Slimane’s touch with a minimalist boutique composed mainly of marble, metal and mirrors.

“The store concept is an essential ingredient of the reformation by Mr. Slimane and the new strategic direction of the house,” Paul Deneve, president and chief executive officer of Yves Saint Laurent, told WWD.

The boutique offering a wide range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear products and accessories that helped Saint Laurent report a 16.9 percent revenue gain in the first quarter.

Ottavio Missoni, who founded the iconic Missoni fashion brand with his wife Rosita, died Thursday at his home in Sumirago, Italy. He was 92. On May 1, Missoni, known by his nickname Tai, was hospitalized for a cardiac problem but was released later that evening. Mr. Missoni, an Italian track star, and his young bride, Rosita, created the Missoni label in the 1950s, and for many decades it was considered the height of Italian sophistication, known for its rather jarring striated patterns.

Giorgio Armani said, “I have always felt for Ottavio Missoni the fondness and admiration that you have for genuine people, those who are naturally at ease — a trait that adds color to life. And, in fact, Ottavio was a master of color, an artist with an instinctual and refined sensibility, who has changed the concept of fashion itself by exalting knitwear.…He represents the best of Italy.”

“I’ve known Tai since the late Seventies,” recalled Burt Tansky, the nonexecutive chairman of the board of Neiman Marcus Inc. “He was a wonderful man and brilliant at creating the materials and color range for the collections. He grew a fantastic business, which has continued. He was the leader of the family, the patriarch, and a genius with colors and yarns, and putting them together in a way that was so unique. He had this lab where he would test colors and fabrications.
