John Galliano Wins First Round In Dior Case

galliano-epa_2471096aGalliano appeared at a hearing at the conseil de prud’hommes (France’s equivalent to an employment tribunal) in Paris yesterday. His lawyer, Chantal Giraud-van Gaver of Coblence & Associés, claimed victory after the court ruled that it was qualified to hear Galliano’s claims against his dismissal in March 2011 after 15 years as creative director at Dior, following a series of public outbursts during which he uttered racist and anti-Semitic insults. At his trial on charges of public insultin June 2011, Galliano blamed work-related stress and multiple addictions for his behavior.
