Liebeskind to Open First Store in the U.S.‏

Liebeskind Berlin is bringing their leather handbags all the way from Germany to New York. Liebeskind has moved to 276 Lafayette Street in SoHo, the first Liebeskind store in the U.S.. Future plans to open two to three more stores in New York are dependent on the success of the newly opened store in SoHo. Liebeskind is currently featured in Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and a total of 260 doors worldwide. Chief executive officer Johannes Rellecke explains how the brand came about, “We saw a big gap for high quality full leather handbags, accessories and shoes, so we decided to make our own. We see a lot of chances in this market. More and more women are tired of spending more than $400 on a leather handbag” as told to WWD. Liebeskind’s Lotta hobo retails at $349 and the Mia satchel retails at $345, all made from fine leather.

Refinery29 to Collaborate with DKNY for an Exclusive Handbag Line

Refinery29 and DKNY are teaming up to create an exclusive handbag line that is “a tangible example of what the site does on a daily basis” reports WWD. This is the second time DKNY has teamed up with a fashion website, after teaming up last year with the blogger Bag Snob. Each bag is to be named after the cities featured on Refinery29’s website, New York City, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., San Francisco and London. These bags retail from $195 to $395 and are to be representative of their namesake cities. For example, the Miami, retailing at $245, is a coral and nude crossbody, and The New York City bag, retailing at $395, is a nude leather backpack with black piping. The London bag is to be considered a tribute to Vivienne Westwood, described as a “punk coral and black lace” envelope clutch, retailing at $265. These bags will be available for purchase in March and are featured on refinery29.com and dkny.com as well as DKNY stores.
