Kenzo Taps Jean-Paul Goude for Ads

Kenzo has tapped Jean-Paul Goude to shoot its fall-winter campaign, which will break in the July issue of L’Uomo Vogue this week to coincide with the Pitti Uomo trade show in Florence. Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the duo behind Opening Ceremony, said they have long admired Goude and felt he was the ideal choice to shoot the collection, which was influenced by the spirit of founder Kenzo Takada’s Jungle Jap store in Paris in the Seventies.

The campaign features images of models Xiao Wen and Simon Sabbah, both wearing sweaters embroidered with a tiger and the Kenzo logo, superimposed to form an X shape. “It’s really exciting putting in the forefront that this brand is a unisex brand,” said Leon. “The idea that this image can work for both men’s and women’s magazines, depending on how you reverse it, was a very interesting take from his part on our collection.” The campaign is slated to run globally starting in September in titles including Vogue Paris, Vogue U.S., Vogue Hommes International, GQ…etc

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he big bosses behind Kenzo deserve a shout out, as well as letting them do their own thing in terms of the collection, they seem to have given Humberto Leon and Carol Lim freedom to go a bit nuts with the campaign surrounding it too. The OCTV Barneys video was a whole lot of fun, now this short animation joins it in a similar happy-happy mood. A colourful 80’s soaked short film directed by Jo Ratcliffe and animated by Rob Ward and Suzanne Deakin, press play and get cheerful.

Sneak Attack! Converse x Missoni & Vans x Kenzo Sneakers 2012 Collections.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]hey say that opposites attract. But, this latest fashion collaboration feels like two worlds colliding. Converse and Missoni have gotten in bed together and birthed the fifth Missoni for Converse line, spanking new twist on the classic Chuck Taylor design for the Spring 2012 season.

The line features two women’s-only versions of the shoe with a touch of metallic sparkle added to Missoni’s signature zig zag, knit used in the uppers. One comes in green and white with silver and gold metallic detailing and the other in white and tan with subtle hues of peach accented with silver and gold.

In addition to the women’s-only  versions, the collection also includes a fresh unisex model that comes in Missoni’s exclusive multi-stitch, space-dyed fabric in sharp hues of navy and white. Already familiar from past Converse and Missoni collaborations, each shoe has premium leather on the tongue’s upper, logos, heel-pull-tabs and toe caps. It is more than sure that these beauties will be some of the most sought after sneakers of the season.

Kenzo and Vans announced also a series of new collections for summer 2012. There will be three installments of products set to hit stores in May, June and July. Headed by Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Kenzo, has recently seen an injection of youthful designs.

For the first assortment of styles, Kenzo’s vibrant colors and net prints from the Spring Summer 2012 season will be featured on Vans’ original skate shoe, the Era. The collection includes seven colorways available for men and women that feature the bright blue, white, green and red colors.

The collections will be sold at Kenzo stores, Kenzo.com and at select retail partners including Opening Ceremony, Colette, Harvey Nichols, Bosco Milan,Lane Crawford  and IT starting in mid-May 2012.
