Pitti Bimbo – Florence kids fair

Pitti Bimbo can truly be considered the major children’s fashion fair in the world. It offers a perfect vantage point for viewing all the lifestyle trends that are the result of crossing the wires of fashion, food, art and design.

This 360° view covers it all, from the classic-elegance of the big brands at Pitti Bimbo, to the sportswear at Sport Generation, from the creativity of the sophisticated, research-oriented names at New View and EcoEthic to the urban couture at Super Street, to the avant-garde collections at Apartment.

The Eco Ethic section is dedicated to green issues, with a selection of the best brands that base their style code on sustainable fashion.

Companies from all over the world that use organic and bio materials produced with respect for nature and as part of a supply chain that protects local products and small communities as well as safeguarding the planet and human beings.

We loved Paul Smith Junior!

It is a charming collection for boys and girls from birth to 16 years. It kept Paul Smith adult collection’s design vision, but more fun, light-hearted. Quirky prints, graphic t-shirts and iconic stripes sit alongside soft knits and oversize checks.

Fuorisalone 2012 Milan – Day 6

[dropcap]T [/dropcap]he last day of our Fuorisalone tour and we wrap up with the Duomo area. In the beautiful frame of Palazzo Morando, Baccarat displayed the works of various designers of excellence by the name of Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Starck, Jaime Hayon, Mathias where the light played to highlight bends, cuts and design. At another noble Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi, Venini presented their retrospective. Beautiful were the vases of Tadao Ando.

Very suggestive the proposals of Nilufar which are always soffits ticketed and unusual. A selection of international designers of which “Tunisia” showed a constellation of lights composed of 3 lamps that live harmoniously in a metallic net by Giacomo Ravagli. Special are  the compositions of butterflies and the armchair in the shape of a butterfly by Daniele Innamorato.

A few steps away Gaia & Gino with Swarovski presented a new collection of accessories designed by David Adjaye, Dafne Koz and Harry Allen. Playful and ironic the windows of Hermès created by Kiki van Eijk.

Ingo Maurer continues research in LED and presents candles as well as revisiting some of his historical pieces ironically. Staying in tune with lights, Alessi Lux launched the “Forever Lamp”, a new collection of precious lamps. Ross Lovegrove created a screen luminous glass named “Botanic Rain” and another “Droplet Mini LED”, a light that memorizes the movement of water.

Ecal Losanna - University Art and Design of Lausanne

Fuorisalone 2012 Milan – Day 5

[dropcap]I [/dropcap]ntense day full of smaller presentations all within the various shops and galleries in the Brera Design District.
The first appointment was Homeless, supported by Humberto and Fernando Campana. Three very young students, promoted through social network, proposed a contest that unites artisans and designers for intelligent design at a low cost. The result are a series of accessories for the home, truly beautiful.

A brief visit to Ecal, University of Art and Design Lausanne, to admire the contemporary proposals of the students, not only design but a strong decorative imprint balanced between art and design.
At Kashtall, Paola Navone showing her new carpet collection inspired by Ikat.

From carpet to carpet in the magical back drop of the Cloisters of San Sepolcro, Nodus presented the work of many designers: Studio Job, Kiki Van Eijk, Estudio Campana and many others. The carpets hung like contemporary art paintings.
In the ex Gallery Lia Rumma, a magnificent collection of vases oversized by Ferdinando Vassallo.
“Stone, paper, scissors” is the exhibition presented at the library of Santa Maria Incoronata. The owner of an incredible ‘masseria’ in Puglia got many hound designers to work on a project using poo materials at low cost for hotels.

At Dilmos gallery pieces from Ron Gilad played on the transformation. As always very colorful was the presentation from Wall&Decò which showed a wallpaper for exteriors.
At the Pelota an exhibition dedicated to Austrian designers. In the cult shop gallery Corso Como 10, 3 exhibitions with minimal impact, of which one of Kris Ruhs.
